Beach Safety - Keep An Eye On the Kids During a day at the beach, family fun and ocean safety should be your first priority. While beachgoers enjoy the water, lifeguards constantly watch for swimmers in distress. Even so, you are responsible for your own safety and that of the children who are with you. Be prepared to watch kids closely while they are ocean swimming, or even just near the water. Lifeguards may be on the lookout, but accidents can occur quickly, and it's best that you know what is going on so that you can get help if necessary. You'll also want to keep an eye on children who are playing away from the water to make sure they don't get lost in the crowds.
