How To Choose A Great Beach Vacation At A Great Beach Resort In Cambodia

A beach vacation in Cambodia is just about the last thing you think of when the word Cambodia is mentioned . Your mind immediately goes to the magnificent Angkor Wat , or the palaces and war memorials of Phnom Penh. Unbeknown to many on the south Coast of Cambodia are some great beaches, some as yet undeveloped beach resorts and some great hotel accommodation. The beach resorts of Cambodia really must be part of any holiday in Cambodia.

Making a start in Sihanoukville where you will find an empty white sand beach, a clear blue sky and a blue-turquoise shimmering ocean. Cambodia once war torn is now at peace, and tourism is now a large part of the economy, but when the name Cambodia is mentioned, most people think of temples, and Angkor.

At last the government in Cambodia has begun to see the huge sense in diversifying their tourism to include some wonderfully still unspoilt beaches. First and foremost, to get to the south coast beaches from Phnom Penh it will take roughly three and a half hours, on what are nowadays very good roads, and this will cost you about USD55 by taxi. You can take the bus for the experience and they leave from the central market.

The premier beach resort is at Sihanoukville, and although there is still the bullet and shell pocked ruins of mansions still visible to remind tourists of the bad old days of the war and the Khmer Rouge, there are a number of high quality hotels and guesthouses with more promised. If you want to take a beach vacation in Cambodia then it would be good to go before the developments disturb the peace and quiet. One of the top two hotels in Sihanoukville is the Sokha Beach Resort, and its bookings are doubling year on year. With half a dozen white sand beaches in the vicinity you need not be a brain surgeon to see what is happening.

Take a diving trip to the island of Koh Tang, where the last battle of the Vietnam war was fought, and the water is so clear and teeming with fish, but be warned there are 61 coastal islands, and their development has begun. Today a holiday in Cambodia at a beach resort is apparently just the way it was in Thailand before tourism spoiled things, and at the moment food and drink is unbelievably cheap. Drive for a couple of hours along the coast and you will come to Kep, where the beach although not as good as at Sihanoukville the pace of life is just so slow and appealing. This is where the French built their villas when they were in power, and again development is taking place. Be warned the airport at Sihanoukville is being developed to accommodate jets and in future jumbos.

The best reason of all to consider a beach vacation in Cambodia is wonderful unspoilt beaches, improving international standard hotels, good food. However do it now before it is spoilt forever.

The Beaches Of Cancun - Bigger And Better Than Ever Print E-mail

The Beaches Of Cancun - Bigger And Better Than Ever

Extending from the Mexican mainland in the shape of a ‘7', the many beaches of Cancun's Hotel Zone have recently received a significant facelift. Almost immediately after much of the sand lining the Caribbean Sea was carried away in a storm, a crew of over 200 people began restoring the beaches. However, the rebuilding didn't stop when the beaches were restored to their original size. Much like the premier resorts of Cancun that utilized this rebuilding period to make their accommodations even more luxurious and inviting, the beaches were rebuilt with an average width of 140 feet – making most beaches 50% bigger than their original size.

Today, with all of the rebuilding completed, the beaches of Cancun offer visitors even more activities and space to relax. The beaches along the stretch of land extending into the Caribbean are typically referred to as the North Side beaches. As these beaches are somewhat sheltered from the Caribbean current by Isla Mujeres, the wind and wave conditions at these beaches are typically very mild.

While the beaches of the East Side might be for some water sports, many of the North Side beaches are perfect for swimming and family activities. Here is overview of the North Side Beaches, from west to east, approaching the Caribbean Sea and the main stretch of Cancun's Hotel Zone: Playa Las Perlas – Located at the beginning of the Hotel Zone where the land begins stretching into the Caribbean, this beach is a popular choice for swimming and other water sports. When you've finished having fun in the water, Playa Las Perlas also has plenty of charming restaurants and bars.

Playa Linda – This North Side beach is located near many popular tourist destinations and features calm, crystal-clear water that is perfect for all types of family-friendly water sports. As a result, Playa Linda is the best place to find submarine and scuba diving tours.

Playa Langosta and Playa Tortugas – These neighboring beaches are known for their pristine sand and relaxed atmosphere. With slightly larger waves than Playa Las Perlas, these two beaches also offer great opportunities for families to try active water sports like waterskiing, jet skiing and boating.

Playa Caracol – This beautiful beach has long been one of the most popular stretches of sand in Cancun. With shallow water leading out into a smooth, sandy bottom, Playa Caracol and its share of the Caribbean Sea is one of the best destinations for families. After the kids have enjoyed splashing in the crystal-clear water, parents can enjoy all the nearby restaurants and shops.

As the beaches of Cancun's East Side extend directly into the Caribbean Sea, visitors will experience slightly higher waves and breezier conditions than on the North Side of the peninsula. However, nearly all of Cancun's East Side beaches feature a family-friendly atmosphere and offer exciting activities for visitors of all ages. Furthermore, as most of Cancun's premier resorts rest of the East Side of the peninsula, you won't have any trouble finding world-class shopping and dining within walking distance of the beach.

The beaches described here are in order from north to south, with the best resorts and activities residing at the southernmost end of the peninsula: Gaviota Azul, Chac Mool and Playa Marlin – These three special stretches of sand are the northernmost beaches on the East Side of the Hotel Zone. While these beaches might not be as glamorous as those further south near the exclusive resorts, all three offer plenty of space to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Also, as the wave action is the highest offshore from these beaches, windsurfing and parasailing have become popular sports here.

Playa Ballenas – This beach, centrally located on the East Side of the Hotel Zone, is known for its family-friendly activities. Every member of the family can enjoy activities like swimming, tubing, boating and waterskiing. Furthermore, as Playa Ballenas rests in the heart of Cancun's most exciting area, there is also plenty to explore on land. San Miguelito – Known as the beach that adds a little history to the exciting Cancun experience, San Miguelito allows visitors to explore ancient Mayan ruins while playing in the sand. Beyond the important historical remains located on the beach, San Miguelito is also a great place to swim or simply relax beneath the shade of a palapa. Playa Delfines and Playa Nizuc – Located at the southern end of the Hotel Zone's East Side, these beaches offer some of the best scenery in Cancun.

As Playa Delfines and Playa Nizuc are both nestled against some of the best resorts in Cancun, there are also plenty of great restaurants and other activities to enjoy. Following the extensive rebuilding period, nearly everything in Cancun is better than ever and the city hardly missed a beat. The improved beaches of Cancun allow you and your family to play in the near-endless sand, frolic in the warm water or simply relax in the sun. Throw in the family-oriented beach culture and the countless activities of the Hotel Zone and you'll see why Cancun is one of the best family destinations in the Caribbean.

Hawaii Beach Activities Enjoyed By Many

Hawaii is a popular vacation destination. Perhaps, the greatest allure of Hawaii is its beautiful beaches and the many activities that they hold. In fact, each Hawaiian Island has an unlimited number of beaches for vacationers to choose from! If you are in the process of planning a trip to Hawaii, there are a number of benefits to examining popular beach activities before you leave for your trip. Before focusing on a few of the many Hawaii beach activities that you can enjoy on your next trip, it is first important to focus on travel arrangements.

The greatest component of having the "perfect," Hawaii vacation, is ensuring that all travel arrangements are made and well in advance. Of course, airline reservations and car rental reservations are important, but a good percentage of your focus should be placed on booking a stay at a Hawaii vacation rental. Overnight accommodations have the ability to make or break a vacation. The reason why your Hawaii vacation rental should be important is because of the options that you have. Hawaii vacation rentals come in a number of different formats, including Hawaii vacation condos, cottages, villas, apartment rentals, and homes. You will also find a number of features, price ranges, as well as locations.

The first step is deciding which Hawaiian Island you would like to visit, like Maui. Next, affordability should examined; create a budget for yourself. Finally, quickly examine your intended vacation activities. If you would like to spend your time enjoying many of the fun and popular Hawaii beach activities, a few of which are highlighted below, a beachfront Hawaii vacation rental may be in your best interest. In terms of Hawaii beach activities that many tourists enjoy, it is important to start with the basics. Two popular Hawaii activities that are enjoyed by individuals of all ages, including those both old and young, are swimming and boating.

Many Hawaii beaches have clear, calm waters, which are ideal for young children and inexperienced swimmers. In terms of boating, many are pleased with the options they are presented with. Hawaii boat rentals are available for experienced boaters, private and group charter boats are available for inexperienced boaters, as well as dinner and one day Hawaii cruises. If adventure is more your style, there are still a number of Hawaii beach activities that may be perfect for you.

These activities include surfing, wind surfing, and body boarding. Surfing and windsurfing are Hawaii beach activities mostly reserved for those who have some surfing experience. With that being said, there is never a better time to learn to surf than on a Hawaii vacation. To find affordable surfing lessons, perform a search online. If Hawaii vacation rental reservations, such as those for a Hawaii condo, have already been made, keep location in mind. Doing so can significantly reduce your travel time, giving you more time to learn how to surf! Snorkeling and scuba diving are two more popular Hawaii beach activities that come highly rated and recommend. These activities are not only adventurous, but educational as well. Many are amazed at all of the sea life they are able to see and learn about while scuba diving or snorkeling. As with surfing and windsurfing, lessons are available for those who are inexperienced divers.

For experienced divers, beach rental stations are conveniently located all across Hawaii and near popular Hawaii beach destinations. As a recap, proper planning and preparation is the key to having a memorable trip to Hawaii. Once the proper travel arrangements have been made, in terms of Hawaii vacation rental reservations, airline reservations, and car rental reservations, Hawaii activities should be examined. With an unlimited number of beach rental companies throughout Hawaii, rental equipment may not require special arrangements; however, lessons may. For that reason, if learning how to surf, windsurf, scuba dive, or snorkel is a must do for you, be sure to do the proper research before you leave for your Hawaii vacation.

Venice Beach: The People Watching Capital Of Southern California Print E-mail

Venice Beach: The People Watching Capital Of Southern California

The beach experience isn't always just about sun and sand. One of the most enjoyable parts of any time spent at the beach is checking out everything and everyone around you. At most beaches, that means skimpy bikinis and the odd kite-flying youngster. At Venice Beach in Los Angeles, it's a different story entirely. On any given day, juggling street performers delight the crowd, caricaturists draw unflattering works of art, and straining weightlifters glisten in the heat. All of this makes Venice unlike any other beach in the world, certain to thrill every visitor. "Venice of America" was created as a beach resort in 1905. The initial grounds came complete with an aquarium, bathhouses, and an amusement park. Developers dug several canals to drain marshes, establishing the parallel with the Italian city of the same name. Few of the original canals remain, but the houses running alongside them have been renovated and restored to their original grandeur. From its initial development until the 1950's, the Los Angeles municipal government maintained a hands-off policy towards Venice Beach.

As infrastructure crumbled in the latter half of the 20th century, the city stepped in and ordered the demolition of over 550 buildings. This rebirth infused Venice with a new energy, and as the 1960's opened, characters from across the board began pouring in. In many ways, Venice Beach was the Haight-Ashbury of southern California. The liberal, free environment gave rise to acts like The Doors. This atmosphere still prevails today, with the population of Venice a veritable melting pot of different races, cultures, and attitudes. All of these people come together to make Venice one of the funkiest spots in America. While the three mile long beach is available for swimming, that's not what most people envision when they think of Venice.

The most famous icon of Venice Beach is the Gold's Gym, once home to now-Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger. Today, an enormous "weight pen" supplies wannabe Terminators with the equipment they require, all while spectators gawk from bleachers.

Running along the boardwalk are a number of shops and eateries that cater to the eclectic tastes of Venice Beach residents and visitors. You can purchase anything from t-shirts to tattoos. That's not the only art in Venice. Most buildings are adorned with grafittied murals depicting a variety of subjects. Formerly a free for all, artists must now obtain permits before starting their work. Even though the majority of the action takes place on the boardwalk and streets, the beach itself certainly deserves some mention. Venice has one of the better surf breaks in Los Angeles.

Volleyball and handball courts abound, inviting you to work up a sweat. There are also a ton of picnic benches and tables, so takeout from any of the great restaurants on the promenade can make for an inexpensive, fun meal. Venice is a great spot to check out while you're in LA. Don't be intimidated by the brawny weightlifters and tattooed outcasts: everyone can enjoy the madness that makes up this incredibly unique beach. ZaZaGallery. A Cyprus Holiday Beach Villa - Top Accomodation Print E-mail

A Cyprus Holiday Beach Villa

One of the popular places many Europeans, especially those from the U.K., spend their holidays is in Cyprus. Located in the western end of the Mediterranean Sea, this country offers a fair weather climate year round that goes perfect with its many miles of beaches. Cyprus may be the perfect destination for your next holiday, but to ensure you get the accommodation and services you want, you should plan ahead. Securing lodging for your holiday is the first arrangement you should make when planning to spend your holiday.

There are a number of different options for you to choose from including a Cyprus holiday beach villa, a discount Cyprus apartment or a hotel. Each has its own benefits, so you should evaluate which one is right for you before making a reservation. A Cyprus holiday beach villa is the perfect lodging accommodation for travellers that are searching for peace and quiet with a good degree of privacy. Instead of staying in a hotel with hundreds of other visitors you can have the entire villa to yourself.

A Cyprus holiday beach villa also offers those renting it quick access to the beach as well as more space for additional guests. Another popular form of accommodation is a discount Cyprus apartment. These are perfect for individuals wanting semi-privacy as most apartments are located in clusters.

A discount Cyprus apartment does offer more space than a traditional hotel room, although it is not as big as a Cyprus holiday beach villa. The last option for lodging in Cyprus is to stay in a hotel, which is what many people on holiday choose to do. This is due to the fact it is easy to find and reserve a hotel room using the Internet or over the phone. While renting a Cyprus holiday beach villa or a discount Cyprus apartment is what most holiday travellers choose, some opt to purchase Cyprus property to make into a permanent holiday home. If this interests you there are a number of different estate agents available to assist you to find exactly what you want and need, though make sure you only use an agent who is licensed to buy or sell Cyprus property. After you have your lodging secured, you should plan the rest of your trip to determine what additional services are needed.

Flights are important of course, and there are a number of different charter companies operating to and from Cyprus to transport you to your holiday destination. You might also need a rental car depending upon how far your lodging is from the airport or if you plan to travel around parts of Cyprus to the many different activities and attractions the country has for visitors.

Taking a holiday in Cyprus can be fun due to the many activities and attractions the country has to offer. However, there are numerous decisions to be made ahead of time with regards to lodging, flights and more. By taking the time to plan out what accommodation and services you need in advance, you can ensure you have exactly what you need to make your stay enjoyable.

The Best Beaches In Costa Brava Print E-mail

The Best Beaches In Costa Brava

We're now in peak booking season, and as usual one of our big sellers are our Costa Brava holiday packages. What attracts such big numbers of tourists to Spain's ‘Wild Coast' every year? Sun, Sand and Sangria – along with the great range of Costa Brava's cheap hotels. With a coastline stretching all the way down from the French border to Barcelona, there's quite a few Costa Brava beaches clamouring for your attention – so which are the most worthy? Well, a good start for narrowing the list down is to look exclusively at EU Blue Flag winning beaches in Costa Brava. The Blue Flag is only granted to beaches that meet 29 criteria for excellence, with everything from cleanliness, to water quality, to the quantity of lifeguards come under scrutiny, ensuring that the Blue Flag really is a sign of quality.

To give you an idea of the quality of the region, Costa Brava has the largest concentration of Blue Flag awarded beaches in Spain – no wonder it's popular, though it does make my task of narrowing down the best that bit more difficult! Gandia Nobody knows a region better than the locals, and that is why you can safely say Gandia is one of the finest beaches in Costa Brava – there are hardly any tourists there. This one is purely popular with the locals, and that alone should make you consider visiting this Costa Brava holiday gem! The beach itself is enormous, with fine white sands stretching off into the distance – and if you tire of this, the restaurants and cafes nearby make a delicious change of pace. Aigua Blava Aigua Blava is tranquil and calm – perfect for a break away from the clubs and bustling towns. The waters are clean, relaxing and calm, and wash peacefully over the golden sands. This Costa Brava beach is the smallest listed here, which provides a charming intimate feel allowing you really to feel like you're getting away from it all on your Costa Brava holiday.

Tamariu Slightly larger than Aigua Blava is Tamariu – the little cove is a short hike across picturesque cliff tops, and well worth the slight effort of finding on your Costa Brava holiday. The sand is fine, the water is clear and the nearby amenities are top notch, with welcoming restaurants and charming boutiques lining the promenade ensuring a break from the relaxation is never far away, for those strange enough to want it! Llafanc Llafranc, while larger than the previous two Costa Brava beaches listed, is still small enough to feel cosy.

The port is picturesque, there's plenty of space for children to play, and the sands are perfect for relaxation and working on your tan in the brilliant sunshine. As seems compulsory for blue flag Costa Brava beaches, you can be sure to find many fine restaurants along the promenade meaning that what started out as a ‘couple of hours sunbathing' can easily extend into the evening – only ended when hunger pangs draw you to one of the nearby restaurants or cocktail bars, as the daylight draws to a close.

This is just a smattering of the many fine beaches along the Costa Brava, and as long as the beach is blue flag listed, you can be sure of quality. While the best time to visit the region is May-June (before the crowds) or September-October (after the crowds), the beauty of the amount of quality beaches is that if you find one too crowded, you can always head to the next one and still be assured of a relaxing day out.

Divers will experience the sensation of swimming amongst the myriads of colorful fishes, encounter the vast beds of exotic corals and bright sponges. The majestic manta rays, adorable dolphins and the occasional sharks are common sightings. Alternatively, guests can spend the day trekking the many jungle trails around the island or enjoy a game of beach volleyball.
