Guadeloupe is an enchanting mixture of French and Creole influence, this Caribbean paradise comprises Basse-Terre, Grande-Terre and five smaller islands, all of which vary quite substantially in scenery and attractions, in fact Guadeloupe is an archipelago of nine inhabited islands. French is the official language, although Creole is widely spoken. Everyone understands French but few people understand English.

Guadeloupe is the centre of the Caribbean's Creole culture, well known for its sugar and rum as for its beaches and resorts, this archipelago offers an interesting mix of modernity and rural cities, rainforests and enchanting beaches.

  • Guadeloupe Basse Terre has green and lush vegetation, mountainous with a volcano.
  • Grande Terre is flat and dry with a lot of beaches, some of them very touristy.
  • Marie Galante is the biggest island out of mainland Guadeloupe.
  • Les Saintes is composed by Terre de Haut and Terre de Bas.
  • La Désirade is dry and cliffy.
  • Petite Terre is uninhabited and untamed.
  • Saint Martin is the French part of Saint Martin.
  • Saint Barthélemy is the jet set island with glamorous resorts and wonderful beaches.
