Acapulco is a city and a major sea port in the state of Guerrero on the pacific coast of Mexico, 200 miles southwest from Mexico City. Acapulco is located on a deep, semi-circular bay. It is a port of call for shipping and cruises lines running between Panama and San Francisco, CA.

For many years Acapulco has been a popular resort for all kind of travelers. Visitors like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Elizabeth Taylor had enjoyed its charm. At this day the majority of the tourist are Mexican, but many other foreign national make appearences in the numerous bar and clubs around the famous bay.

In the 20´s, Acapulco becomes an important tourist destination, with the visit of the Prince of Wales and future King Edward VIII. A Texan businessman named Pullen was responsible for the construction of what is now known as Old Acapulco and its first hotels and resorts. Years later, Mexican President Miguel Aleman radically transformed the port, installing electricity, drainage systems and pavements and building the first road from Mexico City to the Port, which brought much more tourism to the area.

A must see in Acapulco is "La Quebrada" where Cliff Divers perform their impressive jumps into the dangerous tides that form in the bottom of La Quebrada. This perform is done by local divers and has become a tradition the decade of the 30´s.

The bay area is what made Acapulco famous and its beauty and majesty has not faded over the years. The most represetative beaches are Icacos, Condesa, Hornos y Caleta. Beaches in La Costera ahve mostly calm waters suitable for practicing sports. Most hotels in Acapulco are found along La Costera.

The best beach in Acapulco this days is Palya Revolcadera and as opposed to beaches in La Costera that are protected by the bay, this is an open water beach with strong tides.
